Well, it all started when my dad
got himself a smartphone…… My dad knew nothing about them so I basically had to
teach him everything about it. It didn’t take him long to figure out how to
turn it on and get to the home screen. That was the easy part. Trying to teach
him how apps work and what they are was not an easy task. I think I tried
explaining it to him at least 10 times and eventually he started to figure it
out. I would take the phone from him and slowly walk him through the process of
downloading different apps and how to use them. Teaching him how to call people
and text people was a fairly easy process. He was used to calling and texting
from his old phone.
There were so many skills that I
had to use during this entire process. The main skill I had to use was
patience. There was so many times where I felt like blowing up because it was
so frustrating. I tried explaining things to him to the best of my abilities
and he just never understood it. Self-control was another skill that I had to
use. There were many times where I felt like walking away from it situation and
making him wait until my sister gets home from college to try to explain it to
him. I sucked it up and kept working with him and after a couple weeks, I think
he finally got the majority of it figured out.
